The bookmark is a simple tool that lets you capture content from any webpage directly into your PDF draft. Instead of copying and pasting HTML manually, just click the bookmark while browsing any website, and the page content will be automatically added to your draft.

How to Set Up the Bookmark

Copy the Bookmarklet Code

Copy the bookmarklet code below. This code captures the HTML directly from the page you're viewing and sends it to your dashboard.

Create the Bookmark in Your Browser

Create a new bookmark in your browser and paste the copied code as the bookmark URL. You can name it "DocLine" or any name you prefer.

In Chrome/Edge:

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+O (or Cmd+Shift+O on Mac) to open the bookmark manager
  2. Click "Add new bookmark"
  3. Name: "DocLine"
  4. URL: Paste the copied code (must start with javascript:)
  5. Save the bookmark

In Firefox:

  1. Right-click on the bookmarks bar
  2. Select "New bookmark"
  3. Name: "DocLine"
  4. Location: Paste the copied code
  5. Save the bookmark

Use It on Any Webpage

When you're on a page you want to capture, click the bookmark. A DocLine tab opens: choose Summary, Standard, or Full there, and it is added to your draft.

Generate Your PDF

After collecting pages from different websites, go back to your dashboard. You'll see all captured pages in your draft. Review them, reorder if needed, choose your typography, and click "Generate PDF Draft" to create your consolidated document.

Important Notes

  • •Public pages only: The bookmark works best on publicly accessible webpages. Pages behind login walls may not be captured correctly.
  • •Login required: You must be logged into your DocLine account for the bookmark to work.
  • •Manual generation: After capturing pages, remember to go to your dashboard and click "Generate PDF Draft" to create the final document.
  • •Content cleaning: The system removes navigation, menus, and UI elements. Capture detail — Summary, Standard, or Full — is chosen in the tab the bookmark opens.
  • •Same bookmark: You don't need to reinstall it. Each capture opens a tab to pick the mode. One PDF can mix pages captured with different details.
