How it is calculated

  • The term starts on the business day after notification (art. 156 of the National Civil and Commercial Procedure Code).
  • Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, tourism bridge days, judicial recess and any non-working days you add are skipped.
  • A filing can still be made within the first two office hours of the business day after the deadline (grace period, art. 124).

Guidance tool based on Argentina's National Civil and Commercial Procedure Code. Provinces and some courts have their own rules: always check the applicable code and court notices.

Frequently asked questions

How are procedural deadlines counted in Argentina?
In national courts they are counted in court business days, starting the day after notification. Weekends, holidays, judicial recess and days declared non-working are not counted.
What is the grace period?
It allows a filing within the first two office hours of the business day after the deadline (art. 124 of the National Procedure Code).
Does judicial recess suspend deadlines?
Yes. During the January and winter recess days are non-working and terms do not run, unless expressly enabled. Winter recess dates are set every year.
Does it work for provincial courts?
It works as a guide, but each province has its own procedure code, holidays and recess. Add local non-working days in the calculator and check your jurisdiction's rules.
